Wire enamels

Wire enamels are coatings that are essential for electrical insulation in electrical motors, generators and transformers. Axalta’s wire enamels are used on a wide variety of conductor applications. Everything from fine wires for miniaturized electronic components, and thick round or rectangular wires for large motors, to small electric motors and large generators and transformers.

Impregnating resins

Impregnating resins and varnishes sit alongside wire enamels as key components of motor, generator and transformer production. It’s the impregnating resins’ job to turn the individual components of wire windings, laminated cores and other insulation materials into a homogenous and mechanically stable unit. Impregnating resins also provide improved heat transfer between wire windings, slot insulation and iron core, as well as broad-spectrum of environmental protection.

Electrical steel coatings

Electrical steel coatings from Axalta’s Energy Solutions deliver remarkable performance, which has established their excellent reputation in the industry. Electrical steel coatings insulate silicon steel sheets of motors and generators. Once applied, they help reduce the eddy current and energy loss of soft magnetic cores by increasing the resistance between laminations and improve the electrical efficiency of electrical motors and generators.
