Axalta Introduces Voltatex 1230 – a New Electrical Steel Coating to Insulate Motors and Generators
Basel, Switzerland – December 7, 2017 – Axalta Coating Systems (NYSE: AXTA), a leading global supplier of liquid and powder coatings, introduces a new electrical steel coating - Voltatex® 1230. Electrical steel coatings are functional coatings that are designed to insulate silicon steel sheets of motors and generators in order to prevent the flow of electricity and to reduce the eddy current. Electrical steel coatings also serve to increase the shelf life of the required punching tools. Voltatex is a complete range of high-performance varnishes that meet the C3, C5 and C6 insulation classes according to the international AISI-ASTM A 976-9 standards.
Designed for use on fully finished electrical steel, such as small and medium-sized motors or generators, Voltatex 1230 is also suitable for small transformers or transmitters where good insulation and punchability is important.
“Axalta’s electrical steel coatings deliver remarkable performance, which has established their excellent reputation in the industry, and Voltatex 1230 is no exception. Manipulation of the liquid varnish is leveraged by reducing the free formaldehyde content to a limit of < 0.1 %. As the successor to Voltatex 1153E, it’s a great addition to our C3 insulation class,” explains Christoph Lomoschitz, Axalta’s Global Product Manager for the Energy Solutions business.
Like all of Axalta’s C3 electrical steel coatings, Voltatex 1230 is an organic-based varnish that delivers increased punchability, exceptional insulation properties and corrosion resistance.
