Axalta Adds Laboratory Process Equipment to Support EV, HEV and PHEV Applications
2 Jun 2016 - Axalta Coating Systems (NYSE: AXTA), a leading global supplier of liquid and powder coatings, has announced the recent addition of laboratory process/low-volume production equipment to support product development of secondary insulations, resins and varnishes used in the manufacture of EV, HEV and PHEV, drive motor and generator applications.
The equipment, installed at Axalta’s Electrical Steel Coatings Laboratory in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, will give customers and potential customers, aided by Axalta’s highly experienced personnel, the opportunity to process stators and rotors utilizing state-of-the-art processing equipment and techniques, allowing motor manufacturers to easily evaluate Voltatex resins at a part level. Low-level production for prototype builds and further development will also be supported by Axalta.
The equipment has the capability to evaluate multiple heat sources and resin application methods, while allowing for precise process control and duplication of all parameters, in order to develop the optimum process and best Voltatex resin for varying stator or rotor designs. Axalta has the on-site capability to perform critical analysis of key properties of the coating process and Voltatex coatings applied, in order to quickly determine coating results.
