Requirement
An anticorrosion system for the protection of 12 feet diameter spools of wire rope. Corrosion in wire rope is an extremely difficult problem to control. Whilst the external surfaces may be protected with conventional oils or greases, the inaccessible surfaces of the core can continue to corrode, seriously endangering the integrity of the rope.
Preparation
Spools were jet washed and allowed to dry.
Coatings
Spools were sprayed with Corroless™ 350, thinned to facilitate spraying and aid penetration. The special vapour action of Corroless™ 350 corrosion inhibitor ensures that effective corrosion protection reaches even unexposed and inaccessible surfaces, thereby enhancing both the safety and service life of the wire rope.
