Axalta takes its market-leading Fast Cure Low Energy technology to the next level
22 April 2025 – Axalta today announced the launch of its next generation patented Fast Cure Low Energy System (FCLE) clearcoat and surfacer products. FCLE technology provides exceptional refinish quality with increased productivity which results in higher profits for bodyshops as well as potentially reducing energy consumption during drying.
Bart De Groof, Sr. Director Marketing, Global Refinish at Axalta, says, “We are delighted that our Fast Cure Low Energy repair system is now even better. Already recognised as a fast and productive coating solution, it now offers increased durability while continuing to support sustainability and meet several OEM specifications—opening new opportunities for forward-thinking bodyshops. This next generation launch was designed for demanding and productivity-focused bodyshops across the region who are looking for the ultimate in efficiency and throughput. Without question, this is the smarter system for smarter energy savings.”
Axalta delivers the FCLE System through three of its leading high-end refinish brands: Cromax – Ultra Performance Energy System; Spies Hecker – under the Speed-TEC product family; and Standox – Xtreme System.
New clearcoat
The new clearcoat is easy to use as it does not require basecoat activation making application quicker and easier. It has a robust, scratch- and chemical-resistant finish with increased durability to meet OEM specifications, which provides bodyshops with even more opportunities to use the FCLE System, including OEM warranty repairs. The mixing ratio and application for the new clearcoat is identical to the previous FCLE System clearcoat but does not require a flexible additive for plastic parts. With short low-temperature baking and air-dry capabilities, the next generation clearcoat may further reduce bodyshops’ carbon footprint while contributing to higher throughput.
New surfacer
The next generation surfacer not only maintains the high-productivity and excellent performance of previous FCLE surfacers but also reduces complexity for bodyshops by combining sanding and non-sanding options in one product. Refinishers no longer have to choose between a sanding or a wet-on-wet product. This has the added benefit of bodyshops carrying less stock, which simplifies both the ordering and the application process.
“Our next generation products and our new FCLE System build on the success of their predecessors. The improved FCLE System delivers all the benefits refinishers have come to expect, and more, including saving up to 50% of gas and up to 48% on electricity because of low bake or air drying. The new FCLE System lets bodyshops find the perfect balance between speed and low energy consumption without compromising appearance,” says De Groof.
