Sustainability
At Axalta, sustainability is central to our business. From environmental and social performance to the benefits our products provide, we prioritize being a responsible business partner and a good neighbor. Our new 2030 goals reflect how meaningful environmental progress, inclusive social values and strong corporate governance are at the heart of Axalta’s operations and success. We have aligned our goals -- structured under three key pillars -- to a targeted selection of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals.
Planet Solutions
At Axalta, we are committed to environmental stewardship. We aim to achieve carbon neutrality in our operations by 2040. To reduce our impact, we plan to achieve a 50% absolute reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. Additionally, we’ll source at least 50% of our electricity from renewable sources. Axalta also targets a 10% reduction in process waste, volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, and water use (normalized to production).
Business Solutions
We focus on how our products and technology can support customer sustainability efforts. Our goal is for 80% of new technology and innovation developments to have a sustainability benefit. We also aim to increase net sales from products, services, and tools that offer sustainability benefits to customers, markets, and communities by at least 20%.
People Solutions
We value inclusivity, integrity, safety, and engagement. We aspire to fill 30% of management positions globally with women and 30% with underrepresented racial/ethnic groups (in the US). We’ll track and improve upon a favorable Inclusion Index. Axalta assesses key suppliers against robust sustainability criteria, including human rights. Our Bright Futures Program supports local communities through donations, including STEM and vocational scholarships. Employee well-being is a priority, with annual engagement surveys, training on the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and a focus on safety.
